ZONE Coaching is led by Lee Perry, a running coach whose own journey in sport shapes the way he works with every runner. After competing in track, cross country and half marathon events in his younger years, Lee returned to running with a clear goal: to build a coaching service that gives everyday runners the same level of care, detail and support often reserved for elite athletes. He believes coaching should never be generic and that every runner, whatever their level, deserves a plan built around their own goals, lifestyle and circumstances.
That personal approach sits at the heart of ZONE Coaching. Lee works with beginners, experienced runners and everyone in between, creating coaching that is supportive, realistic and focused on long-term progress. His aim is not only to help runners perform better, but also to help them enjoy the process, build confidence and keep moving forward with purpose. Lee’s qualifications include UESCA Endurance Running Coach, England Athletics Running Coach, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Level 4 Nutritional Sports Coach.
At ZONE Coaching, the focus is always on the individual. The coaching style is built around real life, which means taking into account not just race goals, but also work, family, time pressures, confidence, current fitness and overall wellbeing. The aim is to create a plan that challenges each runner in the right way without pushing them beyond what is sustainable. That balance helps runners stay consistent, make progress and feel supported throughout their training.
ZONE Coaching is guided by values that matter in every training journey: patience, consistency, honesty and a long-term view of progress. Instead of chasing quick fixes, the focus is on building habits, trust and routines that actually last. For runners who may feel nervous, short on time or unsure where to begin, that tailored and understanding approach can make all the difference.

A big part of what sets ZONE Coaching apart is Lee’s UESCA qualification. UESCA, the United Endurance Sports Coaching Academy, is built around the principle of delivering scientifically backed training in real-world environments. For ZONE Coaching, that means every plan is based on the individual runner rather than broad formulas or one-size-fits-all schedules. Factors such as current ability, training history, lifestyle, recovery, stress and personal goals all matter when building the right programme.
Lee’s coaching reflects that philosophy by giving runners training that is accurate, practical and designed to work in everyday life. The goal is not simply to help runners train harder, but to help them train smarter, stay healthier and enjoy their running more. Whether the target is a first 5K, a marathon, improved fitness or simply greater confidence, ZONE Coaching is built to help runners reach their potential in a way that feels personal, informed and achievable.
