Is This For Me

I Am New To Running

New to Running?  Back after a long layoff?  Don’t know where to start?

Well, this is for you if…

  • You are completely new to running
  • You’ve tried before but it didn’t work out
  • You have no idea where or how to start
  • Been injured and feels like you’re starting from scratch
  • The thought of running fills you dread, but you’ve signed up for a race
  • You tell yourself and anyone who asks, your knees can’t take it (spoiler…they can!)
  • You think a coach is just for experienced runners (another spoiler….its not!)

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be fit.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.

Your age is not a barrier to your success, that’s your mindset.

You just need a starting point — and the right approach.

This is about building things gradually, in a way that works for you, so running becomes something you can actually stick to, feel like you’re making progress with and you actually enjoy.

Everyone starts somewhere — this is your starting line!

How Do We

GET STARTED?

We start with YOU — not some crazy plan.

Before anything is put together, we look at where you are now, your routine, and what you want to achieve. From there, everything is built around YOU and for YOU.

There’s no pressure to do too much too soon. In fact, it’s the opposite.

  • We start at the right level — even if that means a mix of walking and running
  • Keep sessions short, manageable, and easy to follow
  • Build gradually so your body adapts safely
  • Fit everything around your week, not the other way around
  • Adjust as you go, depending on how you’re feeling and progressing
  • You learn running skills and knowledge that you can use for years to come

You’ll always know what you’re doing, and WHY you’re doing it.

The focus isn’t on rushing, it’s about doing in right, it’s about building sustainability.

Your coaching does not involve guesswork, or outdated crazy plans, this is scientifically proven methods that work to build you physically, aerobically and mentally.

What Your

Running Build

LOOKS LIKE?

Everyone starts at a different point — because everyone is different!

In the early stages, the focus is simply on getting regularity. That might mean short sessions, a mix of walking and running if all running is too much, and keeping everything at a level that feels manageable for you rather than overwhelming.

After a couple of weeks, you find things begin to settle. You start to find a rhythm, running becomes a bit more familiar, and what felt difficult at the start begins to feel more achievable and way more comfortable.

As the weeks move on, that consistency builds. You’re running for longer, feeling even more comfortable, and starting to trust your ability. It’s not about pushing hard — it’s about steady but definite progress.

For many runners, this leads to completing their first 5K in around 8 weeks, but if quicker or longer than that, then no problem. Most importantly, it builds something that lasts — a routine, a level of fitness, and the confidence to keep going.

The initial aim is simple: to build you in a way that feels achievable, sustainable, and enjoyable.  The only sure way to find consistency is through enjoyment of the process.

Common Q&A on

From New Runners

Do I need to be a certain level of fitness to start using you as my coach?

I have coached many runners who started from ground zero and are now regular runners, having never run a step before.  Many first time marathon runners start with no level of fitness at all.

What if I literally can’t run to the end of my road? Will this be too much for me?

This is exactly why I let people I know I coach non-runners, because we all start somewhere, and you will be amazed what you can be doing within just a few weeks.

How many times per week will I need to run?

It will range from 1 to 4.  Most people can cope with 2 from the off, but if 1 is enough for the initial period then that’s fine.  We run 3 or 4 times a week when you are at 5k – Marathon standard. We always make sure it fits in with your lifestyle, like work and family commitments for example.

What happens if I miss runs and fall behind with the plan?

This happens all the time, people are unwell, have holidays and other commitments, life goes on. What we do is adapt, and a significant reason people choose me as a coach for multiple training blocks and races is they know and trust how I manage the process to keep you perfectly on track despite the distractions.
